The GRLC executive board votes to reverse previous decision sanctioning Lindenwood.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 14, 2005 - During a conference call held last Sunday evening (12-11-2005), the Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference (GRLC) Executive Board revisited Lindenwood University's probationary status and in a vote of 5 - 3 reversed the prior board's decision to place Lindenwood on three years probation for fielding a varsity team.
"After receiving an official complaint from Lindenwood concerning procedural issues with regard to the initial decision, the executive board was compelled to reexamine the process," GRLC Commissioner Brian Mosher explained. "The entire GRLC board participated in a lengthy debate on the topic, and ultimately concluded that proper procedure as outlined in the GRLC Bylaws was not followed."
With the initial decision being rendered null and void, Lindenwood University's status as a member in good standing within the GRLC was restored along with all post season conference awards and titles previously vacated.
Because reversing the prior GRLC board decision dealt only with procedural issues and not content, the question of Lindenwood fielding a varsity program was then re-addressed by the board. In a vote of 5 - 2 with 1 abstention, the current GRLC Executive board found that Lindenwood had not violated GRLC Bylaws and the call was adjourned.
"I'm just glad that the issue has been resolved and we were able to put some closure on this situation." Commissioner Mosher said. "I'm looking forward to a very exciting and competitive 2006 season."
