Nov. 25th, 2001 - Pacific Lutheran win Inaugural Tournament Title
Portland, Oregon - October 20, 2001
The First Annual Lacrosse Northwest Fall Brawl got off to an exciting start last month. Held at Lewis and Clark College, 4 teams vied for the title: University of Washington, University of Oregon, Pacific Lutheran University, and host Lewis and Clark College were all set to start the round-robin play early on Saturday morning.
UW cruised through the 3 game schedule, entering the final game with a 3-0 record and dominating the statistics of goals for, goals against, and low penalty minutes. PLU (2-1 round robin) made it into the final with a 6-5 overtime victory over UO (1-2) after each team had beaten LCC and lost to UW. LCC (0-3) fought hard at home but suffered offensively against the more polished visitors.
A hard fought championship game saw UW dominate ball possession, but was hurt by its inability to convert extra man opportunities presented by PLU penalties. PLU battled throughout and emerged victorious by a 6-4 count.
